Imagine spending your time in Hope and Anchor in days gone by, having once been a local pub, you can imagine what it may have been like as you walk through the front door. Refurbished in a bright airy style, you still get glimpses of the traditional building with its thick granite walls, ornamental fireplaces and beams.

Head out of the front door and a minutes walk will take you to the centre of town where you can spend a happy hour or so browsing the local shops and its just a couple of minutes walk on from there until you reach the quay where again, you can spend a while watching the boats coming and going.

Back at Hope and Anchor, head through the back gate, and you’ll find a short cut to Porthcressa Beach just across the road so grab your swimwear and pop down for a late afternoon dip.

In the summer months, there is sometimes a market held in the park just across the road from you, as well as vegetable stands dotted around the islands, so treat yourself to some local produce before cooking up a storm in the kitchen and enjoying the long warm evenings as you dine outside in your own sun-trap garden.

Close to the town, quay and beaches, Hope and Anchor is an ideal house from where to explore the islands.
